Diversity in2 Engineering Apprenticeship Fair

On February 1st, The Resolute Group had the opportunity to attend the Diversity in2 Engineering Apprenticeship and Jobs Fair hosted by Derby College at the iconic Roundhouse. The aim of this event was to inspire students and local residents interested in a career in engineering and to inform those who had never considered a role in this sector before about how exciting and fruitful it can be.

Derby has a rich history within engineering, being home to companies such as Rolls Royce, Alstom and Bombardier Transport UK, making the city a great place for those interested in a rich and rewarding career. Other companies at this event include Network Rail, Balfour Beatty, Young Rail Professionals, Women in Rail, JCB and East Midlands Railway.

Whilst attending this event, The Resolute Group was asked to host a CV writing and job tips workshop alongside Aegis Rail. Phil (The Resolute Group) and Katy (Aegis Rail) gave presentations to three groups throughout the day with the aim of giving those looking for roles within engineering information about how to effectively look for a position, apply and interview tips to ensure success in their job search. They were also taught about the difference between recruitment agencies and in-house recruitment services as this is something that is not often spoken about which can sometimes cause confusion for a candidate. After this presentation, those who attended received 1-to-1 advice on their CV’s. With 20 years of recruitment experience, this was an exciting opportunity for Phil and Katy to share their knowledge and expertise with those in the job market.

Overall, it was great to such a huge turnout from the public. With The Resolute Group operating within the engineering sector, it is always great to see emerging talent within the industry and we don’t doubt we will be seeing successful young engineers emerging from Derby.
